Adam’s Clubfoot Story

Hi my name is Adam. I’m 20 and I was born with bilateral club feet, one of which was worse than the other. I’ve had 2 surgeries on my left foot and one on my right. I don’t know all the details of my surgery but I just wanted to put myself out there to parents or anyone else with questions about the experience of having club feet and how it can affect growing up. I’m sure knowing your child has a birth defect can be quite devastating but I can assure you it’s not the end of the world.

I’ve played Lacrosse (which is a very fast paced running sport) for 15 years now, I’ve also played baseball, football, love street hockey and I snowboard. I know it’s a pain but really its just a minor set back. Yes there’s still aches and pains associated with my feet but really it’s kind of humbling in a way, gives a better appreciation for life I guess. Maybe that’s just me 😛 So yah, I just want to encourage all the kids and parents of kids wth club feet. And if you have any questions I could help with I’d be more than happy too! Thanks

Adam
