The Ilizarov technique

If anyone has experience using The Ilizarov technique in clubfoot treatment please let me know. I have heard from a Doctor in New York City who uses this method to treat those who have uncorrected clubfeet or those who have had a relapse.

I HAD IT!!! Wow never once it I think I’d be excited to ever say that!! I got it done when I was about 12 yrs old. I didnt have it on my ankle just on my actual leg. The best advice I can say from personal expierence is this: Keep your leg straight, Keep pins CLEAN!!! If you think they are clean, clean them again. And also, try not to baby your leg. I didn’t do any of this. I was in the hospital for longer than I needed to because I got an infection. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take this advice to heart. Hope this works. O and my physical therapist was awesome and helped me learn to walk again. I was scared and babied my leg. I now have SO many scars from this but if your embarrassed to talk about it in public, say you were in a car accident, everyone believes it, and no more questions. I’m now 20 yrs old, and starting to wear shorts outta the house, around strangers. I really hope this helps, and I hope I didn’t scare you. Its better to get the Llizarov(?) treatment. If I hadn’t gotten it, my right leg would have been more than 2 inches shorter. I love the doctor I had. Good luck.
