The Ilizarov technique

July 13, 2009 in Clubfoot Club Blog by Ruth Maude

If anyone has experience using The Ilizarov technique in clubfoot treatment please let me know.  I have heard from a Doctor in New York City who uses this method to treat those who have uncorrected clubfeet or those who have had a relapse.

I have posted a photo of the aparatus in the clubfoot photo gallery

I would like to post more information and stories about this method on the site. Here’s what I have so far… Clubfoot Ilizarov Treatment

Ponseti Survey

July 2, 2009 in Ponseti Method by Ruth Maude

Please take a few minutes to complete a survey about the social support exchanged on the Internet by parents of children with clubfoot. The goal is to identify better ways to provide information, education and support for parents.  https://survey.uiowa.edu/wsb.dll/874/cf7.htm

Is your doctor using the Ponseti Method?

June 24, 2009 in Ponseti Method by Ruth Maude

I have added a new page to the clubfoot site… 10 questions to ask your Doctor to ensure they are using the Ponseti Method.    I wrote this after having an email chat with our newest community member http://clubfootclub.org/community/members/mail2imtiaz/  I am so happy that Imtiaz has now taken his newborn son to a different Doctor, one trained in the Ponseti Method.

I welcome your comments if you feel I have missed something I will be glad to edit this page.
